The Army Judo Association was founded in the late 1960s by Colonel Mike Harvey, CBE MC, a former Commandant of the Army School of Physical Training who won fame leading the successful break out of a Company of the Glosters from encirclement on the Imjin River.

The Association continues to promote Judo within the Army and to host jointly and compete in the Inter Services Judo Championships.

In addition the Association sponsors Annual Training Camps and, in conjunction with the Royal Navy and RAF Judo Associations, makes overseas team tours to take part in competitions and training. In recent years such tours have competed in North America (AMCAN), Cyprus an Japan.
